After almost ten years of dedicated work and a worldwide reputation earned as one of the leading and most respected art spaces in London, Parasol unit will undertake a one-off fundraising art auction in collaboration with the renowned auction house, Sotheby’s, and the online auction house, Paddle8.
Parasol unit is turning to artists, who either have shown their work in one of the extraordinary exhibitions held at the foundation over the past ten years, or are long-time friends and supporters. Adel Abdessemed, Cecilia Edefalk, Fiona Banner, Antony Gormley, Mona Hatoum, Isaac Julien, Idris Kahn, Y. Z. Kami, Robert Mangold and Yinka Shonibare MBE (RA) are among the many artists who have generously donated works for the auction.
The works will be available to view in an exhibition prior to their auction from 22-30 September.
Proceeds from the benefit auction will underpin a secure financial future for Parasol unit, ensuring that the foundation can continue its innovative activities, serving artists from around the world and public alike.
The event will culminate on 30 September from 6.30 - 9 pm at Parasol unit's Auction Closing evening where bidders will have their final chance to bid on their favourite artworks live in the gallery.
On the occasion of our10th Anniversary, Parasol unit has invited New York based artist James Clar to present a specially commissioned artwork for the outdoor area of the foundation that will remain for the duration of winter. Working in the medium of light as a three-dimensional sculptural form, Clar’s work explores the effects of media and technology within our culture.
