All Black gathers together nine artists who work extensively in the color black. Though line is incorporated in the execution of some of these works, the focus of this show is on field, form, and texture. Works are in ink, graphite, charcoal, and carbon. Artists included in the exhibition are: Astrid Bowlby, N. Dash, Roland Flexner, Kristin Holder, Xylor Jane, Jill O’Bryan, Mark Sheinkman, Allyson Strafella, and Jorinde Voigt.

Global Conscious, Local Artists is a group show of contemporary works inspired by today’s current issues, dealing with both local and international news, revolving around issues concerning society, politics, the environment, education, science, health, and technology. The show features work from artists based in Philadelphia, PA. This exhibition incorporates various mediums ranging from installation, printed work, video, and work on paper.
 
SHAINE CRAFT | Blends the borders between figurative and landscape, portrait and abstract.  Her pastel drawings bend the exploration of the figure through the lens of image processing technology. Flesh, pixel, and pigment form unique creations of portraits that are not of any one you can easily recognize.  Craft will have two pastel on paper works on view for this exhibition. 
Shaina Craft received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art.  Craft has exhibited her works at Fox Gallery, MICA, Baltimore, MD; Brown Center, MICA, Baltimore, MD; and 15/15 Gallery, MICA, Baltimore, MD.  She was awarded the Fred and Jonna Lazarus Scholarship, MICA and Best in Show, Student Exhibition at Multiple Choice Gallery in Blue Bell, PA.  Her work is in multiple private collections. 
 
TIM EADS | Ushers in his recent collaborative project “Taxonomy of Trash”.  A new work resulting from a residency at Revolution Recovery.  Eads and his team of collaborators present us with a hybrid form of art, scientific research, audio-visual documentation, readymade sculpture, that resonates with much of today’s collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to artistic practice.  For this exhibition 9 prints from “The Taxonomy of Trash” project and the publication will be on view.  
Tim Eads received his BFA from Texas Tech University and his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.  Eads exhibited his works at West Collects Art in City Hall, Philadelphia PA; Vox Populi, Philadelphia, PA; Delaware Art Museum, The Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington, DE; Dumbo Arts Center, Brooklyn, NY; Penn State School of Visual Arts, State College, PA; Museum of New Art, Pontiac, MI; Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX; Kemijarvi Gallery, Kemijavi, Finland; Galleria Kohina, Joensuu, Finland, and Pentimenti Gallery. Eads is in the public collections of The West Collection, Kirkland Museum of Decorative Arts, and The Baronette Renaissance Hotel.
    
TIM PORTLOCK | Uses 3D special effects and computer game authoring software to create still images of post-industrial cities. The compositions use the conventions of 19th- century American landscape painting.  His images point to an entire range of current-day social dynamics that are related to de-industrialization and the emphasis on the financial industry as the primary engine of the American economy.  Portlock is showing 3 large scale prints for this exhibition. 
Tim Portlock received his BFA from Kansas City Art Institute and MFA’s from University of Chicago and University of Illinois.  Portlock has exhibited his works at Pulse New York; State University Stony Brook, Simon Center, Stony Brook, NY; Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia, PA; Philadelphia City Hall Gallery, Philadelphia, PA; Vox Populi, Philadelphia, PA; Tate Modern, London, UK; Vizivarosi Gallery, Budapest, Hungary; 404 Digital Art Festival, Trieste, Italy; California Museum of Photography, Los Angeles, CA; and Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Los Angeles, CA; He has been awarded Wind Challenge 2012, Independence Award 2012, West Collection 2012, Pew Fellow 2011, and Shuster award 2011. 
 
RAUL ROMERO | Makes multidisciplinary works that materialize into video.  Playground Fun, a project that documents and romanticizes his relationship with the Reading Viaduct aka The Philly High Line pays homage to the site specific installations created by his friends and juvenile quest for a Neverland.  Romero will show two videos in this exhibition. 
Raul Romero received his BA from the University of South Florida.  Romero has exhibited his works at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington, DE; The Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa, Florida, The Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Fl and The Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, Fl.  He has been awarded The William and Nancy Oliver Gallery Prize by Anne Pasternak for the 32nd Annual Juried Art Exhibition at The Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa, FL.  
 
EMILY SCHNELLBACHER | Through biomorphic imagery, Emily Schnellbacher creates a symbolic language and relates human emotions to processes in nature. For this exhibition, Schnellbachner created a site-specific installation titled “Fall” in our Project Room. Several hundred sewn fabric drops are found in this exhibition with other materials (fiberfill, paint and PVC piping). Emily Schnellbacher received her BFA from Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis, IN and her MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA. Schnellbacher has exhibited work at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Harrison Center, Indianapolis, IN; Wheeler Arts Community, Indianapolis, IN; Henry County Art Center, New Castle, IN; and Madison Art Club Gallery, Madison, IN.  She has been awarded The Mildred Darby Menz Award Nominee,  Reverend A.G. Fraser International Scholarship, Louise E. Fulton / IMA Portfolio Scholarship, and the James Doversberger Award. 
 
JAY WALKER | Makes wall installations using tape and imagery that sticks to our memory of the big meta narrative.  His work encompasses patterns and colorful depictions inspired from Theotokos, which is greek for the God-bearer.   For this exhibition Walker is creating a large scale tape installation. 
Jay Walker received his BFA from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and his MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.  Walker has exhibited works at Abington Art Canter, Jenkintown, PA; Main Line Art Center, Haverford, PA; Chester County Art Association, West Chester, PA; Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington, DE; International Arts Movement, New York , NY; Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi, TX; Corpus Christi Art Center, Corpus Christi, TX; and RedBug Projects/Gallery 101, Houston, TX.  Walker is in collections of Abington Art Center Sculpture Park, Texas A&M - Corpus Christ, TX; Art Museum of South Texas, and multiple private collections.

When the sun reached the golden hour I was called into the garden. I hadn‘t intended to go, but my mood was fine and wandering felt right. Wading in the water still and serene, quietly sliding downstream to a pool untouched and smelly. Now naked, now cold, I move like a cat in a cloud, soft and frictionless. Unusual you, you walk between the clouds and only on the smooth parts. By definition you are stranded yet happy.
 
Wading on land, I’m interrupted by a body passing noiselessly through the brush. You‘re forgotten and now I focus. This place shows some good secrets. The smaller ferns begin to unfurl, sensual and slow. The dizzy flora makes itself known, waving a thousand happy hands. To find you, I stay still and wait. “Oh there she is!” Watching you closely, my interruption and my muse. Stretching your feet and staring at the ground I see you’ve found the key, the yet untold truth to clarity and peace of mind. Jealousy sweeps through me leaving a ringing in my ears. Even from here I see your great skin, your glow.

From April 26 through July 27, 2013, Gallery 339 is pleased to present Pant, a group exhibition of works by over twenty contemporary artists working in photography. The gallery will host an opening reception on Friday, September 21, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
 
With its immediate and often casual nature, photography seems to be the ideal art form to portray dogs. Most photographers don’t set out to create a specific “dog” body of work, in the way that they pursue certain landscapes, portraits, buildings, etc. Yet dogs have a way of wandering into the frame, and once there, they are a hard subject to resist. We are captivated by the way that they interact with their environment, and us. They are just doing what dogs do—searching for food, shelter and companionship; playing; fighting; sleeping—but they navigate the world differently than we do. They are unselfconscious and instinctual. They plunge ahead in life without considering the impact of their actions. These are traits that wouldn’t work particularly well for a civil society (it would literally go to the dogs), but we can’t help admiring the simplicity and enthusiasm with which dogs engage the world.
 
In Pant, we are pleased to present photographs from a superb group of artists, all of whom offer a distinct view on canine behavior, from the hard-working dogs in Mary Ellen Mark’s photos of a Vietnamese circus to Elliot Erwitt’s exuberant Parisian terrier to Daido Moriyama’s classic, menacing “Stray Dog.”
 
Pant features work by over twenty artists, including the premier a group of portraits by Justyna Badach which feature itinerant young men and women with their dogs, as well as Jenny Lynn’s towering dog “totems.” As part of the show, we will also exhibit a selection of film critic Steven Rea’s collection of photographs of movie stars with dogs.
