can someone tell me what this was exactly?
who when where what etc?
Dude, I think its like when you see something or do something and you don't know why.
For me its like why? You know? Like I am an interstitialist. I like connecting the dots. Like what if the dots were sqaure and not round? Or what if the dots are the end of infinitely long threads?
I think the only way to stop my mind from wandering is to make stuff subliminal

Microdots dude. everything thats wrong is right again.
I borrowed the line 'hole in the sky' from a peyote
user and saxophone player whom I knew a long time ago
in Berkeley. He used that expression to describe LSD
(which, at the time, had an alleged esoteric
association). So this is the 'hole in the sky'
theory, which has to do with the impact of a building
on people who experience it, and see that it reveals
possibilities that stretch their understanding.
From the nethermost profound of slumber, from a gulf beyond the sun and stars that illume the Lethean shoals and the vague lands of somnolent visions, I floated on a black unrippling tide to the dark threshold of a dream. And in this dream I stood at the end of a long hall that was ceiled and floored and walled with black ebony, and was lit with a light that fell not from the sun or moon nor from any lamp. The hall was without doors or windows, and at the further extreme an oval mirror was framed in the wall. And standing there, I remembered nothing of all that had been; and the other dreams of sleep, and the dream of birth and of everything thereafter, were alike forgotten. And forgotten too was the name I had found among men, and the other names whereby the daughters of dream had known me; and memory was no older than my coming to that hall. But I wondered not, nor was I troubled thereby, and naught was strange to me: for the tide that had borne me to this threshold was the tide of Lethe.
Anon, though I knew not why, my feet were drawn adown the hall, and I approached the oval mirror. And in the mirror I beheld the haggard face that was mine, and the red mark on the cheek where one I loved had struck me in her anger, and the mark on the throat where her lips had kissed me in amorous devotion. And, seeing this, I remembered all that had been; and the other dreams of sleep, and the dream of birth and of everything thereafter, alike returned to me. And thus I recalled the name I had assumed beneath the terrene sun, and the names I had borne beneath the suns of sleep and of reverie. And I marvelled much, and was enormously troubled, and all things were most strange to me, and all things were as of yore.
I’m looking through a hole in the sky
I’m seeing nowhere through the eyes of a lie
I’m getting closer to the end of the line
I’m living easy where the sun doesn’t shine
I’m living in a room without any view
I’m living free because the rent’s never due
The synonyms of all the things that I’ve said
Are just the riddles that are built in my head
Hole in the sky, take me to heaven
Window in time, through it I fly
I’ve seen the stars disappear in the sun
The shooting’s easy if you’ve got the right gun
And even though I’m sitting waiting for mars
I don’t believe there’s any future in cause
Hole in the sky, take me to heaven
Window in time, through it I fly
Yeah
I’ve watched the dogs of war enjoying their feast
I’ve seen the western world go down in the east
The food of love became the greed of our time
But now I’m living on the profits of pride

Constructivism
Russia, ca. 1918
Vladimir Tatlin and some of his colleagues, such as Lev Bruni, Ivan Kliun, and Ivan Puni, influenced by Pablo Picasso’s Cubist sculptures, began to make abstract, nonutilitarian constructions in Russia in the years just before the 1917 revolution. This aesthetic, allied with a geometric vocabulary based on Kazimir Malevich’s Suprematism [more], developed into a rational, materialist, utilitarian approach to socially committed art, led by Tatlin and Aleksandr Rodchenko. After the revolution many Constructivist artists were placed in important pedagogical and administrative positions, where they advocated a culture based on new principles in art, design, typography, and architecture. In attempting to link art with industry, technology, and the ideals of a classless society through the production of socially useful objects, they developed the notion of the artist-as-engineer. The First Constructivist Art Exhibition was held in Moscow in 1921. Artists affiliated with this group included Aleksei Gan, Konstantin Medunetsky, Georgy and Vladimir Stenberg, and Varvara Stepanova, among others. The Constructivists also included another group—led by Vasily Kandinsky

together with Naum Gabo and his brother Antoine Pevsner

—who shared Malevich’s commitment to art as a primarily spiritual activity. Other important Constructivist artists were Aleksandra Ekster and Olga Rozanova and, in Germany, László Moholy-Nagy.www.guggenheimcollection.org/

Corpsefuckers - exciting unless you've been in a metal shop and seen a plasma cutter, or witnessed the awesome power of the industrial spray gun (turn a car from hot to not in seconds). WUSIWYG, you know? Buy a can of spray paint. Go to town. That is unless you are not THE artist. Or maybe if you are.

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a newborn baby it just happens ev'ry day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not forsee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
Hmm, hmm, hmm...
I wanna see your face painted black, black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky.
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black, yeah !
I see a bruce nauman and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
After I wrote David Smith I was wondering where found object assemblage work fit into the spectrum of constructivism. For me, alot of DS work doesn't have any visual rhythm, except the Cubii series which I like.
Was something quite big (/), and covered a wide, even if through happenstance, a sponge like or sporadic picture of 20th century thought and practice covering anywhere from universalism, pragmatism, social constructivism, mathematical instruction, and many divergent /emergent forms in art, feminism, and other forms of activism, information and power, and not to mention deconstruction at its best and most florid, and even a breed of minimalism (which I could to be said to have taken up—maybe), and its getting quite big again, just recently. Even jareth and zips latest foray could sit somewhere under the banner of constructivismand probably accounts for zips subconscious zeal for the topic and the pouring out of postseh?
I dunno you tell me max, I'm ears, but I'm eyes too.
I like this
""I have the deep feeling of not having written what I would like to write and what I should have written," Derrida says, adding that in a sense he views all that he has written and Derrida has been remarkably prolific as a "preliminary exercise" for "the one-and-only project," which he suspects he will never write. "I know it's not possible to write in an absolutely naive fashion, but that's my dream."
Which may be where we stand after deconstruction: Derrida has been demonstrating the extent to which our dreams of naivete and simplicity, of perfect friendship, of indisputable meaning, of God, for that matter are impossible. But he also knows that we remain incapable of not dreaming."

Standing on the beach
With a gun in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring down the barrel
At the arab on the ground
I can see his open mouth
But I hear no sound
I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab
I can turn
And walk away
Or I can fire the gun
Staring at the sky
Staring at the sun
Whichever I choose
It amounts to the same
Absolutely nothing
I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab
I feel the steel butt jump
Smooth in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring at myself
Reflected in the eyes
Of the dead man on the beach
The dead man on the beach
I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab

What is meant by constructivism? The term refers to the idea that learners construct knowledge for themselves-each learner individually (and socially) constructs meaning-as he or she learns. Constructing meaning is learning; there is no other kind. The dramatic consequences of this view are twofold;
1. We have to focus on the learner in thinking about learning (not on the subject/lesson to be taught):
2. There is no knowledge independent of the meaning attributed to experience (constructed) by the learner, or community of learners.
www.artsined.com/
"To become a constructivist is to use constructivism as a referent for thoughts and actions. That is to say when thinking or acting, beliefs associated with constructivism assume a higher value than other beliefs. For a variety of reasons the process is not easy."

Hey AIG, I got this off of the conservative rag:
“The massive anti-GOP protest rally in Manhattan Sunday was best defined by the pyromania that the mainstream media buried or ignored: an alleged arsonist set fire to a float—a paper maché dragon—within spitting distance of Madison Square Garden, while someone was inside the float, according to a law enforcement figure. (Two people were burned, including one police officer, though neither was seriously injured.)
www.townhall.com/
Now when they use mainstream media you know they are conservative – liberals KNOW the media is slanted – and with good reason – liberals don’t exist. So any media that uses “liberal” in any other way than to suggest a desire for more ice cream or a good tawny port to excess, are using a bullshit label we give to 12 year olds. I am for the war on terrorism – Invading Afghanistan and hunting Osama Bin Laden was a good idea. We shouldn’t have stopped there, however. Osama is Ollie, nuke the anticommunist now.
1,298,847,624 people in China. Roughly the same as in the US, minus a billion. They could crush us at Walmart. Literally.
here’s some Ollie North. If you will recall he was sentenced to 1,200 hours of community service for his role in the Iran Contra Affair (1987-1989) which he never served because you know, the jury might have seen Ollie North on TV.
It’s a dear John letter to Kerry – which is a little twisted if ask you me. (picture Ollie as Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men (1992), “The truth? You can’t handle the truth!” or, if you prefer The Shining (1980) “Wendy, I’m working!” or something like that.
“But that's not really the problem, either. The trouble you're having, John, isn't about your medals or coming home early or getting lost or even Richard Nixon. The issue is what you did to us when you came home, John.”
“When you got home, you co-founded Vietnam Veterans Against the War and wrote "The New Soldier," which denounced those of us who served and were still serving on the battlefields of a thankless war. Worst of all, John, you then accused me and all of us who served in Vietnam of committing terrible crimes and atrocities.
On April 22, 1971, under oath, you told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that you had knowledge that American troops "had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam." And you admitted on television that "yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed."
Kerry in 1970 -“I think it is bogus, totally artificial. There is no threat. The Communists are not about to take over our McDonald hamburger stands. [Laughter.]...
Editorial Note: Kerry's exchange with the senators consumed two complete hours, ranging from earlier French experiences in Indochina to the status of the war in 1971. Kerry faulted the electronic press for failure to report a recent antiwar conference because of its lack of "visual" appeal and entertainment value. He also cited the "exorbitant" power of the Executive, faulting Congress.
www.richmond.edu/
So the most I think we can accuse Kerry of is opportunism (politician, duh!) – because his sister probably put him up to the bit about the ears (true or not).
But here’s wintersoldier.com (after Thomas Paine on Valley Forge) its like one of those para - militia rags:

I’m tired of this fear trip (2001-) entertaining as it is. I mean what is Osama going to tell terrorists in a videotape broadcast? “Do IT….NOW!” (Schwarzanegger 1984, 1988, 2002). Where are the machines of mass destruction when society needs a REAL enemy?
"Dear Sir, the two Communists you want are hiding in my village. They are hiding in the house number 80/2 by my village boundaries. They only go out at night. If you succeed in arresting them, please keep my name secret!"
"Thank you, Mr. Ba, your name will be kept secret."

Once uppon a time there was this rich swineherd who needed some art to cover up the holes in the double wide.
Now this swineherd was a shrewd businessman, and realized that a reproduction is as good as the real thing from ten feet away.
So the swineherd bought a bunch of stuff and hung it high, just like they do in Texass.

Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night's magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush...
Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a' you, my love?
Well I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait till the morning has come
And I know now the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
You know...now that I'm a Lassie girl...I'm thinking different, and...what with the new space station and all up and running,,,(strang little voices chanting: we have the drug money, we have the drug money" and"we don't do realeastate...we don't do real estate) I'm thinking...maybe george did this...he's pretty tricky; he does like Chevy Chase Impersonations; did you watch the convention - did he pick a vp...I didn't pay attention...)
