DIRECT-TO-PLATE
Artforum is printed on a web offset press, using a 4-color (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) halftone separation process. For full page and spread, text should be no closer than 0.25" to the edge of the cut page (not the bleed). Improperly sized material may be altered at Artforum’s discretion. Artforum only accepts digital files for direct-to-plate output. We no longer accept film.
We strongly prefer Adobe InDesign files (must include all necessary fonts; must also include graphics/logos/pictures in TIFF or EPS format at sufficient resolution). We will also accept Illustrator EPS or PDF files.
DESIGN
When supplying photographic material for design purposes, digital images should be at least 300 dpi at 100%. All copy for typesetting can be e-mailed to the New York office. PDF proofs will be e-mailed for approval. Artforum does not supply color proofs. Artforum is not responsible for incorrect text knockout and overprint settings in files supplied by advertisers.
COLOR SPECIFICATIONS
Artforum is printed in CMYK color. We do not accept PMS. All files must be submitted in CMYK. No RGB, LAB, or embedded color profiles will be accepted. Artforum is not responsible for any changes in color conversion to CMYK. All images other than 4-color must be supplied in black and white. We do not recommend using rich or registration black color build for fine lines such as text, as minor variation in plate registration can cause color misalignment. Use 100% black only for text.
COLOR PROOF
Artforum recommends providing a color proof for the most accurate color matching. The preferred proof is Epson, calibrated for SWOP 3 profile, including color bars showing that the device producing the proof is properly calibrated. Artforum does not accept original art. Please contact us for vendor referral to output a proof.
GENERAL
Artforum reserves the right to decline any advertisement. In the event of an error, Artforum’s liability shall not exceed the cost of the space occupied by the error. The publisher is not liable for delays in delivery, for nondelivery, or for any condition affecting production or delivery in any manner. Artforum is not responsible for any color matching discrepencies in the absence of a color proof.
