I should like to bring to your attention an error in the January issue of your publication.

The extremely handsome illustration of the Matisse La-Musique to which you devoted your cover attributed ownership of the painting to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This is definitely not the case––the work has been one of our proudest possessions since May of 1940, almost 25 years ago.

I, of course, do not know the source of your misinformation but am sure that you will agree with me, in the light of the importance of the painting, that a correction should be made in the earliest possible issue.

We have been enjoying Artforum and consider it a very lively and informative publication.
