Chilean contemporary art has been relatively slighted compared with that of neighbors Brazil and Argentina, thanks in part to a lack of indigenous institutional support. “Young Art in Chile” aims to rectify that situation. Curated by young Santiago critic Guillermo Machuca, this survey of paintings and installations by about ten artists, including Mario Navarro, Cristian Silva, and Pablo Langlois, tracks their sources among predecessors such as Eugenio Dittborn and Gonzalo Díaz, as well as literary influences, particulary those of poets and critics such as Juan Luis Martínez and Ronald Kay
