2015 Rome Prize Winners Announced

The American Academy in Rome has unveiled this year’s winners of the Rome Prize. Winners—artists and scholars in early and middle stages of their careers—are selected by independent juries through a national competition process.

Honorees are invited to Rome the following year, where they can work “in an atmosphere conducive to intellectual and artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary exchange,” according to the academy.

The artists winning the prize this year are Mark Boulos, Emily Jacir, David Schutter, and Senam Okudzeto. Visual artists who’ve been honored in past years include Carrie Mae Weems, R. H. Quaytman, and Terry Adkins. All of this year's winners, in all disciplines, are:
