One thousand artists around the world are participating in a project that involves leaving small artworks in public places for passersby to admire, or to claim for themselves, Maria Puente reports in USA Today. The project, called “Found Art,” is coordinated by Sharon Vogt, an artist from Madison, Wisconsin who wanted to ”do something positive” after September 11. Participating artists have been leaving sculpted figures, booklets of drawings, decorated mailing labels, collaged postcards, and CDs in restaurants, stores, and other public places; each artwork comes with a sticker attached that advertises the project. Now, Puente reports, similar projects are popping up around the country.
