On the occasion of the opening of his new foundation in Paris, the generally press-shy Henri Cartier-Bresson granted an interview to the Los Angeles Times‘s Kristin Hohenadel. He explained to Hohenadel how his approach to art has evolved over the years, from a preoccupation with the “decisive moments” of photography to an interest in the relatively protracted process of drawing: “Photography is not important. It’s instant drawing, that’s all. It’s drawing that’s important.”
