ALEX POOTS APPOINTED ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF PARK AVENUE ARMORY

Alex Poots has been named artistic director of Park Avenue Armory, effective early 2012. Poots is currently the festival director of the biennial Manchester International Festival. In his new role, Poots plans to “focus on using the Armory’s unconventional spaces to commission ambitious new work by leading visual and performing artists from around the world,” states Rebecca Robertson, president and executive producer of the Armory.

“The vision for the Armory is to create opportunities for artists to realize their most expansive and freewheeling dreams as well as for audiences to have experiences that cannot be had anywhere else in the City,” adds Robertson. “With his artistic vision and world-class relationships, Alex is the ideal person to help the Armory take the next step in its trajectory.”
