American Airlines is being sued for damaging a Lucio Fontana work while the piece was in transit from Paris to the Armory Show in New York last year, according to Anny Shaw in the Art Newspaper. A suit was filed by the work’s insurers, Lloyd’s of London, in New York courts, on behalf of Marc Selwyn Fine Art.
Seven other art handling companies have been named as codefendants, including “Elite Systematic Arts and MainFreight in the US; CDG Handling, World Freight, ARC Transport, Socièté Nouvelle Cornu Emballeurs in France; and Kraft ELS AG in Switzerland,” Shaw writes.
