Police in Austin, Texas, are investigating a two-week surge in burglaries among several of the city’s galleries, including the grabbing of two rare Picasso prints worth about 64,000 dollars each on Sunday, Tony Plohetski and Jeanne Claire van Ryzin report in the Austin American-Statesman. “Whoever [stole the prints] knew exactly what they wanted and knew they were valuable pieces,” said gallerist Lisa Russell. “They’ve got to know the art market.”
