Art Jameel and ISCP Announce 2015 Artists in Residence
Art Jameel, Edge of Arabia (a nonprofit based in London) and the International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York have announced the participants selected for their second annual artist residency program in New York: Ayman Yossri Daydban, Zeinab Shahidi Marnani, and Sara Ouhaddou. The theme of this year’s residency is the development and extension of locally driven investigations into the cultural and historical landscape of New York.
Ayman Yossri Daydban was born in Palestine and lives and works in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is a conceptual artist whose work centers on the patterns and relationships found in his own biography and the broader social and political environment.
Zeinab Shahidi Marnani was born in Iran and lives and works in Tehran. Since 2012 Shahidi has worked with the International Organization of Migration, facilitating a program called Australian Cultural Orientation, which was set up to introduce Australian culture to Afghan refugees whose cases have been approved for immigration to Australia.
Sara Ouhaddou was born in Morocco and lives and works between Paris and Morocco. She is an artist and designer who works in collaboration with artisans from her local community in Morocco to preserve traditional craft techniques and use them as the basis for her practice.
