Artist Caitlin Cherry Wins Annenberg Fellowship

Visual artist Caitlin Cherry is among the five emerging artists and performers who have reason to celebrate: They've been selected to receive stipends totaling $300,000 from the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship Fund for the Performing and Visual Arts, according to the New York Times’ William Grimes.

The other new fellows are soprano Julia Bullock, pianist Sean Chen, McKenzie Chinn—an actress, writer, and filmmaker—and dancer Joseph Gorak. Overall, the Annenberg fund has paid or pledged more than $5 million over the last eight years for career-development grants to artists.

Cherry staged a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum two years ago, and her art appeared in “Fore,” a 2012 group exhibition at the Studio Museum of Harlem. She’ll be receiving $50,000 from the Annenberg fund.
