Artist Not Vital to Buy Castle in Swiss Alps

Swiss artist Not Vital will purchase Schloss Tarasp, a twelfth-century castle in the Swiss Alps. Voting 634 to 204 in favor of Vital’s purchase, residents in the town of Scuol approved an agreement which also requires the artist to keep the museum publicly accessible until at least 2030–an important clause for the town, which estimates that the castle draws eighteen thousand visitors per year, reports Blick.ch.

Vital will purchase the castle for eight million dollars from the von Hessen family. He also will be receiving around $215,000 annually from the community to maintain the one-thousand-year-old edifice.
