AVERY FISHER HALL TO BE RENAMED FOR DAVID GEFFEN

The entertainment mogul David Geffen’s going to see his name over at Lincoln Center for a very long time. Geffen’s giving $100 million to renovate Avery Fisher Hall, which will in turn be renamed for him, according to the New York Times’ Robin Pogrebin.

Geffen’s donation will subsidize the hall’s gut renovation—estimated to cost $100 million. Construction won’t begin until 2019, but the building will become David Geffen Hall by September.

“It was a quick yes for me,” Geffen said. “I’m a kid from Brooklyn—it’s a big deal,” he said. “I watched them build this building.”.
