Bloomberg Philanthropies Selects Arts Organizations in Atlanta for $43 Million Management Training Program

Bloomberg Philanthropies announced that forty-five cultural organizations in Atlanta have been selected to participate in a $43 million multiyear initiative, which seeks to strengthen the infrastructure and programming of small and midsize cultural nonprofits within the cities of Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Denver, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, and Washington, DC.

Through the Arts Innovation and Management (AIM) program, Bloomberg Philanthropies will provide general operating support, as well as arts management training, in areas that range from fundraising and strategic planning to marketing and board development. More than two hundred cultural organizations will be invited to participate and will be announced on an individual basis per city throughout the summer and early fall.

Established in 2011 as part of Michael Bloomberg’s American Cities Initiative, the program aims to help nonprofits that play a vital role in building communities, supporting local artists, and driving the economy. The participating organizations have to have been in existence for at least two years. To date, the AIM program has granted more than $108 million to five hundred organizations.

“Atlanta has a booming creative sector,” said Kate D. Levin, head of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Arts program. “The city is home to more than five hundred cultural organizations, many with a national or international profile and within that, a very robust small and mid-size cohort. We are excited to see what we can do to enhance that excellence.”
