BRONX MUSEUM ANNOUNCES $1 MILLION ACQUISITION PROGRAM AND HIRES CURATOR

The Bronx Museum of the Arts has announced a $1 million campaign to add forty works to its collection. It has hired Julieta Gonzalez as an adjunct curator devoted to advising on acquisitions for this very project. Gonzalez, who is currently chief curator of the recently reopened Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City, previously served as an assistant curator at Tate Modern. Gonzalez’s appointment is funded by a five-year, $250,000 grant from an anonymous donor, reports GalleristNY. In addition to the $1 million raised by the museum, the Ford Foundation has promised $500,000 and the Jacques and Natasha German Trust has provided $25,000 more to fund the acquisition initiative.
