Bronx Museum Raises $1 Million for Art Acquisitions

The Bronx Museum of the Arts has completed its fundraising campaign of one million dollars, earmarked for the acquisition of art. Supported by last year’s $500,000 grant from the Ford Foundation, the initiative has allowed the museum to acquire more than forty works by artists including Martin Wong, Elizabeth Catlett, Glenn Ligon, Öyvind Fahlström, Jamel Shabazz, Vito Acconci, and Raphael Montañez Ortiz, among others. Subsequent funding was provided by the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Trust, the Pinta Acquisitions Fund, and individual donations.
