Bugada & Cargnel Gallery in Paris to Close Its Doors

The Parisian gallery Bugada & Cargnel, founded by Claudia Cargnel and Frédéric Bugada and located in the city’s Belleville neighborhood, has “ceased its activities,” according to a statement on the gallery’s website, writes Alex Greenberger of Artnews. In an email to Artnews, Bugada said that he and Cargnel will “continue [the gallery’s] operations, but in a different form. For now we have stopped representing the artists we used to work with. Plans for the future are still under development, so I [can’t] say much more.”

The space first started out as Cosmic Galerie, opening in Paris’s Marais district in 2002. Bugada & Cargnel represented Cyprien Gaillard, Claire Tabouret, Mat Collishaw, and Ryan Estep, among other artists.

“We wish to thank all those, artists, gallery staff, collectors, curators, art critics, art lovers, who accompanied us, supported us, trusted us, or simply appreciated the exhibitions we organized and our work during all these years,” said the dealers in their statement. “This isn’t goodbye!”
