Scores of California’s arts, arts education, and outreach programs will be decimated by the new state budget approved Tuesday, Steven Winn writes in the San Francisco Chronicle. The California Arts Council will get a token one million dollars for the coming year. As recently as 2000–2001, that figure was thirty-two million dollars.
