Camille Henrot Wins 2014 Nam June Paik Award

The New York–based French artist Camille Henrot has won this year’s Nam June Paik award, while Manuel Graf is this year's recipient of the Nam June Paik Newcomer Award. Both were selected unanimously by the jurists—Thomas Y. Levin and Dirk Snauwaert—who chose the winners based on the works installed by all the shortlisted artists in the award exhibition at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld. Henrot, who will receive nearly $32,000, was recognized with a Silver Lion at the previous Venice Biennale for her video, Grosse Fatigue, which she produced as a Smithsonian Artist Research fellow. Nominated for the 2014 Hugo Boss prize, she has staged solo shows at the New Museum in New York and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, France, among other institutions.
