Curators Appointed for 2016 Istanbul Design Biennial

Hurriyet reports that a husband-and-wife team has been appointed to curated the 2016 Istanbul Design Biennial: New York-based architectural historians Mark Wigley and Beatriz Colomina. Wigley—a professor and dean emeritus of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation—is an architectural theorist, critic, and historian. He has organized exhibitions at the MoMA in New York, the Witte de with in Rotterdam, and the Drawing Center.

Colomina, meanwhile, is professor of architecture and founding director of the program in Media and Modernity at Princeton University, and has curated shows appearing at the Storefront for Art and Architecture, New York, the Deutsche Architektur Museum, Frankfurt, and the Lisbon Triennale.

The two will announce the conceptual framework of the third Istanbul Design Biennial in December.
