DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART RECEIVES $1.5 MILLION FOR EDUCATION PROGRAMMING

According to the Dallas Morning News’ Robert Miller, Beverly and Donald S. Freeman have given $1.5 million to the Dallas Museum of Art. The funds will establish the Bonnie Pitman Education Endowment—and in particular, the “Do Something New” fund—in honor of Pitman, the museum’s former director, and in support the museum’s education department.

After joining the museum as deputy director in 2000, Pitman became director from 2008 through 2011. “The Dallas Museum of Art deeply appreciates this generous gift from Beverly and Don Freeman, long-standing patrons of the museum, including Beverly’s more than three decades as a valued DMA docent,” said Maxwell L. Anderson, the museum’s director.
