According to Stefanie Schneider in Monopol, Swiss curator Daniel Baumann will be the new director of Kunsthalle Zürich. He’ll officially begin in January, but will start working part time for the institution in November. Baumann is filling a role left vacant by Beatrix Ruf, who’s headed to lead the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
Since 1996, he served as curator of the Adolf-Wölfi-Stiftung im Kunstmuseum Bern, and in 2008 cofounded New Jerseyy—an exhibition space—along with Tobias Madison, Emanuel Rossetti, and Dan Solbach. As an independent curator, Baumann has organized shows around the world, notably cocurating the 2013 Carnegie International. He was the unanimous choice of the Kunsthalle’s selection committee.
