Delaware Art Museum Deaccessions Two Paintings to Pay Off Debt

The Delaware Art Museum has sold two paintings to pay off debt that built up from its 2005 renovation and expansion, according to the Washington Post.

Andrew Wyeth’s Arthur Cleveland, 1965, and Winslow Homer’s Milking Time, 1875, were both sold at undisclosed prices. The institution has been facing criticism from national museum associations since its board voted last year to sell up to four works to chip away at its $19.8 million debt and raise more than $10 million for the museum’s endowment.
