The Denver Art Museum (DAM) has received a $3 million gift from Lakewood, Colorado’s Avenir Foundation to expand its textile-art gallery. The 7,000-square-foot space, which is currently being used as storage, will be reopened in 2013 to exhibit previously unseen textile works from the museum’s collection. Museum director Christoph Heinrich told the Denver Post_, “The success of past exhibitions, such as ‘Gee’s Bend,’ and our current exhibitions, ‘Threads of Heaven’ and ‘Sleight of Hand,’ have shown the community’s interest in textile art.”
