Deputy Director and Chief Curator Jennifer Y. Chi Departs the Brooklyn Museum

After joining the Brooklyn Museum in November, Jennifer Y. Chi, the institution’s deputy director and chief curator, has left her post. Artnews reports that the curator’s last day was Monday, June 18. While the museum declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding her departure, a spokesperson said that the institution “is grateful to Dr. Chi for her efforts in pursuing departmental restructuring, refining curatorial processes, and highlighting the museum’s extraordinary collections, and we wish her well.”

Chi served as exhibitions director and chief curator of the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University for more than a decade before she was tapped to take up the post. Chi succeeded Nancy Spector, who resigned in early 2017 in order to return to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum where she had worked for twenty-nine years before she left to join the Brooklyn Museum.
