Seattle Art Museum director Derrick Cartwright has announced that he will resign from his position as of June 30. Cartwright, forty-nine, has been the director of the museum for two years and has stated that he plans to pursue academic interests. Janet Tu of the Seattle Times_ quotes SAM board president Maggie Walker as having said, “He just told us he’s ready for a break and he wants to focus on some of his own personal art passion. It really has been a tough job and he has worked extraordinarily hard.”
