DETAILS UNVEILED FOR FIRST VIENNA BIENNALE

The Museum für angewandte Kunst in Vienna has announced the theme and curators for the first Vienna Biennale, according to Artnet’s Hili Perlson. Titled “Ideas for Change,” the biennial will be curated by Maria Lind, Peter Weibel, Pedro Gadanho, and Harald Gruendl. Perlson writes that it’ll “focus on the social and financial implications of mega-cities.”

Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, director of the MAK and head of the biennial, called it “the first multisector biennale in the world,” referring to the planned cross-disciplinary perspectives on design, art, theory, and architecture.

“The interplay of the creative sectors gives this biennale its unique character,” he added.
