Robin Pogrebin of the New York Times reports that Corning Museum of Glass will be getting a new north wing designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners. Details of the expansion were unveiled today. The new construction will add 100,000 square feet to the museum, and will include “new galleries for the museum’s contemporary glass collection and a large space for glassblowing demonstrations and glass design sessions.” The project is estimated to cost $64 million and will be completed in 2014.
