Lincoln Center is hiring a New York City cultural executive, Vin Cipolla, to direct the capital campaign for Avery Fisher Hall, which will soon be renamed David Geffen Hall, according to the New York Times‘ Robin Pogrebin. While Geffen contributed $100 million, a total of $500 million will be required for the renovation, with fundraising soon being overseen by Cipolla, currently the president of the Municipal Art Society of New York. “I absolutely think this can be done,” Cipolla told the Times. “It’s important to the city and to the world and the wherewithal to do it is absolutely out there and it needs to be expertly planned and coordinated.”
Cipolla will continue on as president of the Municipal Arts Society board until someone’s found to replace him. He previously served as chairman and president of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.
