An association of French investors known as AFPER have asked a Paris court to seize Russian artworks from the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Expatica reports. AFPER is trying to collect a debt that dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century, when the organization’s predecessors lent money to the prerevolutionary Russian government. Today, the amount owed is 340 million euros (386 million dollars).
