Galerie Bob van Orsouw to Close

Zürich's Galerie Bob van Orsouw, currently located at Limmatstrasse 270 and run by Bigna Pfenninger and Bob van Orsouw, has announced that it will close by the end of 2016. Until then, the gallery will be open and operating but on an “irregular basis.”

The gallery represents artists including Philip Akkerman, Cristian Andersen, Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, Paul Morrison, Ernesto Neto, Julian Opie, Walter Pfeiffer, and Ger van Elk.

Established in 1988, Galerie Bob von Orsouw was run out of an apartment until it moved to a public space in 1990. In 1996, the venue relocated to the former Löwenbräu brewery complex. The gallery launched Zurich-based Suzie Q. Projects, which promoted emerging contemporary artists, in 2007. During a two-year renovation, Galerie Bob von Orsouw opened a temporary space called Hubertus Exhibitions. It reopened in 2012 in a larger space on the Löwenbräu premises.
