The Galerie Nagel Draxler, which has locations in Berlin and Cologne, has announced the opening of its new premises in the Maxvorstadt district of Munich. Located at Türkenstraße 43, the street-level gallery is in walking distance of the Museum Brandhorst and the Pinakothek der Moderne. An exhibition addressing environmental issues such as climate change and featuring work by American artists Mark Dion and Christine Wang will inaugurate the space on October 23.

UNTITLED, ART Miami Beach has released the list of exhibitors for its eighth edition, taking place from December 4 to December 8. Among the participating 126 international galleries and nonprofit spaces, hailing from twenty-eight countries and fifty-seven cities, are several galleries making their UNTITLED, ART fair debut, including Addis Fine Art (Ethiopia), MAKASIINI CONTEMPORARY (Finland), Patrick Heide Contemporary Art (London), Pintô International (Philippines), and ZidounBossuyt Gallery (Luxembourg).

Highlights of this year’s edition include Primo Marella Gallery’s (Milan) presentation of work by Joel Andrianomearisoa, who represented Madagascar at this year’s Venice Biennale; Herlizka + Faria’s (Buenos Aires) display of a selection of conceptual works by Latin American artists, including Marta Minujín, who currently has an exhibition at the New Museum in New York; and Yancey Richardson Gallery’s (New York) group show on the evolution and perception of gender roles.

The event is also launching a new writer-in-residence program, which will fund the travel and accommodations of one participant to fair. The inaugural writer-in-residence will be curator and New York–based writer Osman Can Yerebakan, whose work has been published in the New York Times Style Magazine, the Paris Review, Artforum, BOMB, and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. Marianne Boesky Gallery now represents the Cairo-born, New York–based artist Ghada Amer. Over the course of her multi-decade career, Amer has shown her paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and garden and mixed-media installations, which often examine the female experience, at international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale (2007, 2005, 1999), the Sydney Biennale (2006), and the Whitney Biennial (2000), and at institutions such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Centre Pompidou, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

The gallery will present Amer’s work at the 2020 edition of the Independent Art Fair, followed by a solo exhibition of Amer’s garden installations at the gallery’s Chelsea locations in the spring of 2021. Amer will also exhibit new garden works at the Rabat Biennale in Morocco, which kicks off on September 24, and at the Museo de Arte Zapopan in Guadalajara, Mexico, in March 2020.

“Ghada’s work is visionary, in its formal depth and intricacy as well as in its intellectual acuity,” said Marianne Boesky. “It is with great respect and excitement that we are bringing her into the gallery program. We very much look forward to supporting Ghada in realizing new ambitious projects and to fostering broader global awareness and understanding of the full range of her oeuvre.”

Hostler Burrows expands to the West Coast. The gallery will open a space designed by architect Linda Taalman in Los Angeles next month. Located at 6819 Melrose Avenue in a building that was constructed in 1928, the three-thousand-square-foot-gallery will feature an open main space with an additional project room. “We are always exploring new opportunities to broaden the audience for our contemporary program, and this feels like a natural next step in the gallery’s development,” said gallery cofounder Juliet Burrows.

Burrows and Kim Hostler established the design gallery in New York in 1998. Initially, it was dedicated solely to Nordic design and decorative arts, but the gallery has since expanded its program and now includes a roster of emerging and veteran contemporary artists, including Jasmin Anoschkin, Pekka Paikkar, Ohad Tsfati, and Eva Zethraeus.

The British artist Richard Forster heads to Timothy Taylor. The gallery will present Forster’s first solo show, “Notes on Architecture,” in London this November—the exhibition was first shown earlier this year at the FLAG Art Foundation in New York. Based in Yorkshire, Forster is known for his meticulously detailed, black-and-white drawings in graphite and acrylic. He has exhibited work at Tate Britain, London; the Drawing Center, New York; the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex; and Ingleby Gallery in Edinburgh, which continues to represent the artist in Scotland.

The Independent Art Fair is returning to Spring Studios in TriBeCa from March 5 to March 8, 2020. The event will feature sixty-three galleries in its upcoming edition, including twenty-one first-time exhibitors—A Gentil Carioca (Rio de Janeiro), Nicelle Beauchene (New York), Marianne Boesky Gallery (New York/Aspen), Corbett vs. Dempsey (Chicago), Downs & Ross (New York), Fazakas Gallery (Vancouver), Ivan Gallery (Bucharest), and Alison Jacques Gallery (London), among others. Among the returning galleries are Anglim Gilbert Gallery (San Francisco), Chapter NY (New York), Fleisher/Ollman Gallery (Philadelphia), Garth Greenan Gallery (New York), and Peres Projects (Berlin).
