Local cultural institutions are seeing major boosts in attendance as visitors flock to New York to see The Gates in Central Park, Crain’s New York Business reports. The Metropolitan Museum of Art had sixty thousand visitors the first weekend the public art installation opened, twice as much as usual for a February weekend. The New-York Historical Society set an all-time record for attendance that same weekend.
