Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Names Ariel Plotek Curator of Fine Art
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in New Mexico announced that Ariel Plotek has been appointed its new curator of fine art. He comes to the institution from the San Diego Museum of Art, where he served as curator of modern and contemporary art.
“Ariel is an invested leader in fine art, with innovative approaches to his projects,” Cody Hartley, the institution’s senior director of collections and interpretation, said. “We look forward to the insights he will bring to exploring Georgia O’Keeffe’s vast body of work.”
Plotek is the third curator to join the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum this year. It has also welcomed Liz Neely as curator of digital experiences and Katrina Stacy as curator of education and interpretation. Commenting on his new role, Plotek said: “I am thrilled to join the museum and make the move to New Mexico, a place that was so profoundly important to O’Keeffe. I look forward to beginning a new and exciting chapter.”
