The Graham Foundation announced today that it will be awarding $490,000 in grants to ninety-four architects, designers, curators, filmmakers, visual artists, musicians, and writers. The funding will support fifty-nine projects that develop and exchange innovative ideas about the role of architecture in society.

Among the projects are director and visual artist Joshua Frankel’s multimedia opera that explores a 1960s conflict between urban planner Robert Moses and activist Jane Jacobs over the development of New York’s Washington Square Park, designer Fo (Folayemi) Wilson’s building project that involves constructing a nineteenth-century slave cabin as a cabinet of curiosities in order to address issues of African American representation, Adelita Husni-Bey’s experimental exhibition and publication that investigates urban policymaking in the Middle East and Europe, and architects Konstantinos Pantazis’s and Marianna Rentzou’s research project that reimagines the future of a post-crisis Athens.
