Gu Wenda Wins 2015 Prudential Eye Lifetime Achievement Award

Mysara Aljaru reports in Today Online that Chinese artist Gu Wenda is receiving this year’s Prudential Eye lifetime achievement award, in honor of his contributions to Asian contemporary art. The Shanghai-born artist is perhaps best known for his United Nations piece, currently on view at Saatchi Gallery in London, which comprises 188 national flags made from human hair donated by more than a million people.

Gu is winning of one of thirteen prizes offered this year by the Prudential Eye program; emerging artists will also win $20,000 prizes in six categories: digital/video work, drawing, installation, painting, photography, and sculpture.
