GUNNAR KVARAN NAMED CURATOR OF THE 2013 LYON BIENNIAL

Gunnar Kvaran, director of the Astrup Fearnley Museum in Oslo, is set to curate the 2013 Lyon Biennial, reports the Art Media Agency. The announcement follows the close of the 2011 Lyon Biennial, which attracted some two hundred thousand visitors—a 21 percent increase from the 2009 edition—and included seventy-eight artists, the majority from Europe, Africa, and Latin America. Kvaran served as cocurator of the 2007 Moscow Biennial and has several times acted as commissioner of the Icelandic pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
