Hammer Museum Partners with Nonprofit Art + Practice

The Hammer Museum announced that it will be partnering with the nonprofit Art + Practice, cofounded by artist Mark Bradford, arts patron Eileen Harris Norton, and Allan DiCastro. The partnership will yield a new community arts center on Degnan Boulevard in Los Angeles, set to open in February of next year. The Hammer will stage exhibitions in the space, and provide additional support, and Art + Practice will also team up with the RightWay foundation to reach out to the foster youth population in South Los Angeles, providing counseling and job training. Other features offered will be a bookstore and lecture space, in collaboration with Eso Won Books (a longstanding bookstore with a focus on African-American literature), and artists’ studios, which will be made available to three artists in residence.
