Los Angeles television executive and media investor Dean Valentine and his wife, Amy Adelson, have donated to the UCLA Hammer Museum more than forty contemporary artworks valued at more than one million dollars, reports Diane Haithman for the Los Angeles Times. “What’s wonderful about it is that, almost instantly, we have a collection representing sculpture in Los Angeles, and that is a fantastic opportunity,” museum director Ann Philbin said of the gift. The Valentine donation includes forty-two works by twenty-four artists. Some are established figures with international reputations, including Sam Durant, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and Jason Rhoades. A number of others—Liz Craft, Katie Grinnan, and Evan Holloway among them—received fine arts degrees from UCLA.
