Hannah Rothschild Named Chair of National Gallery in London

Writer and documentary filmmaker Hannah Rothschild has been named chair of the National Gallery in London, making her the first woman to appointed to the post in the institution’s history. Rothschild has been on the board since the 2009 and will succeed Mark Getty, reports Lorena Muñoz-Alonso of Artnet. Rothschild os known for documentaries including The Jazz Baroness (2009) and Keeping up with the Medici (1998). Said director Nicholas Penny: “Hannah Rothschild has defended the National Gallery interests and supported its ambitions with energy and imagination. She will be an exceptionally committed chair.” Rothschild will assume her new post in August of 2015.
