Haroon Mirza Wins Calder Prize

British artist Haroon Mirza has won the fifty-thousand-dollar Calder Prize, according to Gareth Harris in the Art Newspaper.

Supported by the Calder Foundation, the prize comes with a residency at the Atelier Calder in France; the winner will also see an artwork enter a major French public collection. A winner of the Silver Lion at the fifty-fourth Venice Biennale in 2011, Mirza was recently highlighted in a solo show at the Tinguely Museum in Basel and has staged solo exhibitions at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, and the New Museum, New York, among other venues.

Rachel Harrison and Darren Bader are former winners of the prize, which is offered every other year.
