ICA Miami Receives $5 Million Gift From Knight Foundation

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has gifted $5 million to the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, to support the development and presentation of exhibitions of contemporary art.

“Thanks to [the] Knight Foundation's visionary support we will be able to expand our ability to commission experimental and scholarly exhibitions by the most significant emerging and under-represented artists of our time,” said Alex Gartenfeld, ICA Miami’s deputy director and chief curator. “In the next year alone, the Knight's gift will greatly enhance landmark exhibitions and risktaking new works by Shannon Ebner and John Miller.”

This announcement comes just after the addition of ten new members to the institution's board of trustees last month.

The museum expects to break ground on its new, permanent 37,500-square-foot home in the Miami Design District later this year.
