ICI Award Goes to Dimitris Daskalopoulos

Independent Curators International has announced that Greek entrepreneur and collector Dimitris Daskalopoulos will receive this year’s Leo Award, reports Nate Freeman of GalleristNY. The previous owner of the Greek company Viviartia and founder of the D. Daskalopoulos Collection, Daskalopoulos is a member of the board of trustees of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, the Leadership Council of the New Museum, and the Tate International Council, among others. His private collection comprises over five hundred works by 170 artists, including Louise Bourgeois, Damien Hirst, and Mike Kelley. Daskalopoulos will be presented with the award, which is named after dealer Leo Castelli, in the fall.
