INDIANAPOLIS MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART HIRES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Indianapolis Star’s Wei-Huan Chen reports that the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art has officially appointed Paula Katz as executive director. Katz began in an interim role in February (when the preious executive director, Shauta Marsh, departed) and impressed the board so much that it “didn‘t see any reason to do any further searching,” in the words of board president Michael Halstead.

Katz previously served as director and curator of the Herron Galleries at the Herron School of Art and Design from 2008 to 2014. She says her goal is to expand programs “to serve as diverse of an audience as possible,” and to reach out to underserved areas of town. “I want to focus on these contemporary art wastelands, places where we can do a better job,” she said.
