INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY SEEKS NEW SPACE

New York’s International Center of Photography is searching for a new space that can house its museum and its school, reports Robin Pogrebin for the New York Times. On Friday, ICP director Willis E. Hartshorn said the center was in the “early phases” of evaluating various sites below Twenty-sixth Street, including buildings in Lower Manhattan and Chelsea. The center has been located on Forty-third and Sixth Avenue for the past fifteen years and it has not paid rent to the building’s owner, the Durst Corporation. “It’s not clear when we will move or where,” Hartshorn said, adding that the center would like to increase its total space to about 100,000 square feet from its current 65,000.
