The University of Chicago’s Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society has announced the appointment of Jacob Proctor as its first curator. Currently the curator at the Aspen Art Museum, Proctor has worked with many artists including Thea Djordjadze, Kathrin Sonntag, Morgan Fisher, Simon Denny, and Mika Tajima. His forthcoming exhibition at the AAM, “Trapping Lions in Scottish Highlands,” will examine narrative and its disjunction in contemporary art. In his new role, Proctor will be responsible for directing the arts and media programming at the Neubauer Collegium; curating collaborations between artists, academics, and other art partners on campus; and offering courses through the departments of visual arts and art history and the MA program in the Humanities. He begins his new post in November.
