The Dallas Museum of Art announced yesterday the appointment of Jeffrey Grove as the first Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, a new senior position established in recognition of the late DMA patron Robert Hoffman. Currently the curator of modern and contemporary art at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and previously associate curator of contemporary art at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Grove has experience in shaping contemporary programs for encyclopedic museums. He will join the DMA in September. In his new role, Grove will lead the museum’s department of contemporary art and oversee its exhibitions, programming, publication, and acquisition programs. Working in collaboration with colleagues throughout the museum, Grove will further cultivate and showcase the DMA’s contemporary collections. “I am excited to take on this new role at the DMA, a museum internationally renowned for its dynamic presentations of contemporary art and innovative approach to public programming and education,” said Grove. “The DMA has long been an important center for the study and appreciation of modern and contemporary art, and its collection is one of the strongest in the country.”
